Well, I think it's pretty clear by now that I'm really in love with digital illustration and painting. It's a wonderful way to do any kind of art. If you want something realistic, hardly the handmade stuff will get better results than the digital stuff (just check some of the works of this guy and you'll know: [link]).
And if you want a personal wrk, an expressive art, more style and originality (in my opinion, that's what art lives for), the digital also gives you a world of possibilities. But it's important not to see the digital as a substitute for the handmade. It feels like cheating if you want something that looks like real watercolour, for example, but not done with watercolours. The best digital illustration are those that don't hide it's origin, and still can look as original and expressive and visually powerfull as any handmade painting/drawing. There's some perfect examples of that in Kyle Lambert's gallery too.
Well, I just began my journey as digital artist, but I feel it's gonna be really nice. ^^
